This little piggy...

Today was such a fun day at school! We had Mud Day at preschool! The fact that swine flu is going around, made it a little more silly for the adults! The school brought in some dirt and slip n slides and oh my goodness! These kids had so much fun. Some of the kids in my class that I thought would never even touch the mud, were shoulder deep in it. They wore their "yucky" clothes to school so after they played in the mud, we hosed them down and put them in clean clothes. It took Connor a good 15 minutes to warm up to the idea, but once he did, there was no stopping him. We can't wait to do this again next year!!!

Time Out!!

Well, it finally happened. I put myself in time out. Connor and I have been butting heads for the last couple of weeks and it was really getting to both of us. So I called my mom and told her that she and my dad would be getting a visitor this weekend. I have had the most glorious weekend. I know that I am not coming off as "Mom of the Year" here, but this break was just what we needed. He wasn't listening to me anymore, he was laughing when I tried to punish him, etc.
I was able to go to the grocery store by myself, to shop for clothes without anyone oprning the door midway through me changing, and I gotto hang out with some friends without having to pay for a babysitter! And most important, I got to sleep in. I am revived and I mught just make it now!

Here is a picture of Connor. My parents took him to the Ft. Worth Zoo and he had a blast.

Happy Birthday, Ray!!

Hard at work 10,000 miles away!

Today is my husbands birthday. Unfortunately, he has to spend it in Iraq. Bummer. Poor thing turned 21 in basic training and hasn't really had a good birthday track record since then! Hopefully that will change next year when he is home with us!

So, Happy Birthday Babe! We love you and miss you and can't wait for you to come home!

Cuteness

Right before Ray left to go back to Iraq, we were shopping online at a really cute clothing store for Connor called Gymboree. We found this shirt and ordered it right away. I think it says it all....

And the newest members of our family are....

Spidey the crab
Brothers

Spidey and his brother Elmo
Elmo

Well, we the proud parents of 2 hermit crabs. One is named Elmo and the other is Spiderman. You will see from the pictures that their shells are actually painted that way. They were lovingly picked out by Connor. They are low maintence (mommy's favorite kind) and they are very active which just makes Connor's day! Hopefully, they will live for awhile!! :)

To swim or not to swim??

Learning how to put his face in the water.
Learning how to float on his back

Floating with little help!

Almost there!
Ready to go!!!

Well, I finally got around to signing Connor up for swim lessons and guess what?? He LOVES it! He was a little apprehensive to get into the water with someone he didn't know, but his teacher Bonnie knew exactly what to do. She was so patient and kind with him and he really likes her. They are working on putting his face under water, not breathing through his nose and floating. He did great! He was floating on his back all by himself by the end of the lesson. This is such a relief for me. Bonnie put some goggles on him and I thought he was going to freak out. Well, he has been wearing them since we got home. He took a bath tonight and wore them the whole time! He now has very deep rings around his eyes. Hope they go away before we go to school tomorrow. :)
He loves the water and sometimes he doesn't realize the danger he puts himself in when he can't hear me. So, we will continue these lessons through the summer and I bet he will give Grandpa quite a run for his money!

The Bunny came, mommy!!!

Hi Daddy!
The chocolate bunny that he wanted to eat first thing this morning!

Surveying the goods!

Unloading the Easter basket!Connor in our bed last night!

As you can see from the title, the Easter Bunny paid Connor a little visit last night. Actually, early this morning. Connor went to bed last night, then reappeared in our room crying, lips quivering and really upset/scared. He said he wanted to sleep with mommy, so we gathered all his pillows, blankets, bunnies, etc. It took him awhile to fall asleep, but we did finally manage to get a few hours of sleep! So Connor gets up this morning amd I realize, oh crap! I forgot to help the Easter Bunny. So he runs in to go potty and I moved really fast to make ot happen! WHEW!! It was a close call, but he was so happy when he saw all of his goods, it was so worth it!

It rained for about 10 minutes his morning then it quit and it has been a beautiful day. Connor has been outside playing and I have been inside doing lesson plans, dishes and laundry. So much fun! Connor starts swim lesson tomorrow, so I will post about that when we get home!

Fun with daddy- Part 3

Um, does this score really surprise anyone???
Getting it just right!
Go Daddy Go!
Here we go!
Strike!
See daddy, that's how you are supposed to bowl!

We went bowling and I think it was hands down the most fun we have had in a really long time. Connor really got into it and started copying Ray by running up to the line and literally throwing his ball down the lane. It was hillarious! I will post a video of that soon! Connor has a friend Travis who bowls every Saturday in a little bowling league. Connor will start that in the fall and I can't wait to see how well he does!

My boys having lunch

Hammering away at Lowe's

Finished product

We also went to Lowe's where Connor and daddy built a rain gauge. We had to buy Connor his own hammer after that, he tried to smuggle the one he used. They also took time out of their day to wash Ray's truck. Connor loves anything that involves water! We ate lunch at the Oasis which is a great restraunt on Lake Travis. Our night time routine was a little out of whack while Ray was here. They played numerous games of Go Fish, wrestled and played light sabers in the dark. Hearing their laughter was so nice.

Connor is trying to stay interested.
Connor and Ray really had a great time together while Ray was home on R&R. We did so many fun things. We went to Chuck E Cheese, blew bubbles outside, jumped at the Hoppin Hippo, snuggled, etc. I think this was the first time that Connor really understood that daddy had been gone for a long time. We really crammed alot into such a short amount of time. We can't wait until daddy comes home for good!
